Diesel 2007 Jeep Wrangler

Yes, it really is real! And no, you can't drive it.

You might think that I am crazy for even suggesting such a thing. But guess what, I'm not.

On display at the 2007 L.A. International Auto Show was a custom 2007 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited, that's right, the four door one. This Jeep immediately caught my attention. It looked to be a very clean well built Jeep with a modest lift, some tires, and a cool winch bumper. But as I got closer I had to ask myself, "What is this? Is it real?"

Sure enough this Jeep was sporting a badge, not your normal badge, a "CRD" badge. Looking closer it is also sporting a "Turbo Diesel" badge on the hood. Now I was excited. It exists, it really exists.. even if it is just a one off built by the folks at Mopar Skunkworks.

Now anybody can add badges to a vehicle and make it seem real. So I needed to see this engine for myself. I start poking around and notice that the safety latch has not been put back on with this custom hood, so I quickly unlatch the hood and snap photos of the glorious 3.0 liter diesel engine staring at me before being caught by the Jeeps wranglers (no pun intended).

So here they are, pictures of the first Four-Door Diesel Wrangler. I certainly hope we see a return appearance, at a dealer near you.
