Cummings vs Cummins

When people call Cummins Cummings....

Some of you may think I'm being too harsh, you may say that people that don't own a diesel don't know any different. And for that I can forgive them. But when a Dodge owner, or part manufacture calls the engine that they OWN or work on by the wrong name it is just upsetting. Come on people! Be proud that you own a CUMMINS and don't call it a Cummings! That is all.

So what grinds your gears within the diesel world?

1. So you don't think it's like "Some say to-may-to and some say to-mah-to?" Yeah, I tend to be anal-retentive about stuff like that. I guess since it's stamped prominently on the side of the fender and on the valve cover, they should figure it out. It's one thing for a Power Stroke guy to call a Cummins a "Cummings" but it's another for a Ram owner to say it.

Adding the "G" gives me an extra 10 horsepower. Maybe I should put some "naws" on my cummings and then really git-r-done!

6. I've seen Power Stoke both ways. I think it's "Power Stroke" because that's what Ford's badge on Power Stroke-equipped trucks says. "Power Stroke V8....."

9. We know what the person is talking about. We need to stop being so "polically correct" (whatever the *** that means) and just go on with our lives. Who really cares? It bothers me, but in the end we know what they mean, right? What really grinds my gears is when people spout off at the mouth talking about things they know nothing of. Such as belligerent Ford guys (who are for the most part the antagonist) saying the cummins is junk. OK, the same engine, the 5.9, that is in various construction equipment, boats, Fed-Ex trucks...Obviously the cummins is junk. And we've all heard it before, "Oh but my buddy has a friend who blew up his cummins motor". Yea, and this is a credible source. How many of us have heard of a cummins engine really "blowing up".

10. You say it right!!!never heard of a blown up cummins!!
just to say... last week I a rided a 6.7cummins...powerfull engine with heavy duty feels... but i tried it in a 2007 Komatsu PC220 LC8 excavators. Really quiet engine!!! and for the 5.9 they have been available for severals years in a bunch of different machines and models. From Komatsu shovels to snow blowers burning around 100 gallons of fuel a day, to Case wheels loaders being abused in sand pits!!!
Then could some body found me a powerstroke or an other pick-up brand engine that has done their proofs like the little Cummins B-serie!!!

12. The thing that jerks my chain is litsening to a fellow diesel-nut talking about his truck's "gas mileage". If your diesel rig is getting "gas" mileage, you really screwed up back there at the fuel station. Don't know about the rest of you, but my Cummin(no g)s Dodge gets darn good fuel mileage, but it's "gas" mileage sux!

13. Well actually if your not burning any gas than your gas mileage is the best in the world...or gas mileage could be how far you drive with your gas can for your lawnmower (if you have a gas lawn mower).

14. Cummins' have not had to make any substantial changes to the engines other than head configuration and fuel dilivery systems.

As for ignorant people you just have to excuse them for their stupidity.

15. I love a cummins... it's like no other... but i like the duramax too... and the old 7.3 power stroke... but they're completely different machines. so it depends on what you're doing/using the truck for when you pick which engine works best for you.
