Cummings vs Cummins

When people call Cummins Cummings....

Some of you may think I'm being too harsh, you may say that people that don't own a diesel don't know any different. And for that I can forgive them. But when a Dodge owner, or part manufacture calls the engine that they OWN or work on by the wrong name it is just upsetting. Come on people! Be proud that you own a CUMMINS and don't call it a Cummings! That is all.

So what grinds your gears within the diesel world?

16. i like all 3 but it boils down too whats reliable and longest lasting i think cummins replaced in one year 630 engines for warranty in 2002 in automotive alone (warranty) 76% due to wrong oil filters beingstalled, rupturing and clogging up and breaking the piston coolers wich turns that particular cylinder into a lath. im not sure what the other % was from but i can tell you ford replaced 430,000 under warranty in 2003!!!

17. I like Cummins so much I put them in my Ford's. Although I have seeen the carnage a blown up Cummins can cause. After all they are just another motor, they can "blow up" as well. If you push anything hard enough it will fail. I will say that you dont see as many "blown up" cummins motors as you do the other diesels out. Cummins has done what most manufacturers have failed to do. They have stuck with a good basic design and have fine tuned around it. Ford has failed terribly at this, 7.3 6.0 6.4 in how many years. Should have stuck with the 7.3 and built from there.

18. I have had the same trouble with people putting a "g" in my family name. I usually say "like in Cummins Diesel" and now it appears that might not be any better than just saying "no g".

19. I call my 99 3500 4x4 Do_g_ somethinger other. Since it has been gutless since new. With 40 visits to fix it from the factory. A loaded Super-B has more getup and go! So I call it cumzin and we will take your money and say there isnt' anything wrong with it that the computor says!

20. You know whats funny there was this kid that likes to talk all big to me and he came up to me one day and said his chevy 305 could take my cummins. I couldnt stop laughing
