Ok, it looks like high fuel prices are here to stay, so I am going to stop blogging about them (for now). The good news is, that we now all can turn our regular old reliable diesels into competition vehicles! This got me thinking "outside the box".....
Back in the musclecar days, one trick to go faster was to take the largest engine you could find and put it in the smallest car you could find. While most diesels aren't small, there are bigger engines out there to be had. Cummins not only built a 5.9L, they built an 8.3L that shares the same basic design, it's just bigger. DT466s are used in tractor pulling and can make 2500hp, so why not put one in your truck? It can be done (see photo) so what are you waiting for? GO BIG!
