No Roof

What does the '32 Ford, pre-WWII passenger cars and the Jeep ZJ have in common?

The answer is they all make great hot rods. The reason for this is they were built in large numbers then the general public for one reason or another found them undesirable. The market for SUV's has crashed and this is a great time to buy one. Since they are so cheap radical changes can take place and the owner does not have to care about losing a big investment. The only problem with the ZJ or Grand Cherokee is its engine. The 4.0 is nice except it is gas so its got to go. The V-8 is even more of a gas hog although it is a rocket. Fortunately a 2.5L V.M. turbo diesel was an option. Unfortunately not an option in the U.S. Hopefully we the after-market community will make it an option. Project ZJ was launched about a year and a half ago. The first thing to go was the roof. The second thing to go was the interior and glass (except the windshield). So far it has held together. It has survived a Florida summer and a Minnesota winter. Now the sheet metal gets to relax in the California sun. The internals on the other hand are going to get a work out.
