Sometimes we run into some funny situations that we can't publish in the magazine due to photo quality, or other reasons, but I decided this story needs to be told.  This would have been an ok picture, but the guy in front running for cover ruined it.  In the background you can see other people covering their heads with their arms (click picture for a larger version).  Why?  read on.....

Nick D'Amico brought his 800hp Duramax to diesel power challenge and let it all hang out for the dyno competition.  He was looking to bump that 800hp up to 1000 or more with a couple stages of nitrous, which is a bad combination for a non-wastgated turbo in thin air.  The turbo was oversped, and was turned into shrapnel, which was sent out the stack and into the crowd.  Hence the "duck and cover!"  People were finding pieces all over, the crowd, tables, bed of Nick's truck, etc.  Having gathered up his box of parts and not having a turbo, Nick was still all smiles.  A late night thrash at Industrial Injection got Nick a new turbo and he was ready for day 2.
