I used to think that diesel smoke was cool, and who cares what anyone else thought. After a year and a half of working for the magazine, I find my opinion changing. First off, at the pulls or drag races if the wind is blowing wrong, you may be able to get one or two pictures off, but that's it. Diesel Smoke messes up the quality of our photos, and we can't take as many. Also, I'm not the type to shift from first to fifth when there is a convertable next to me. I am a considerate driver. But I drive fast, and sometimes my transmission doesn't downshift fast enough, and I end up smoking out someone at 30mph in 3rd gear, when I really don't mean to. I did this to a motorcycle on the freeway who was splitting lanes once, and actually felt genuinely bad about it. I could have caused an accident. So I find myself turning down my truck a little for the street, and living with 250rwhp instead of 300. If someone is double-parked talking to their friends on the street, I still know what to do =). Got any smoke stories? (Good or bad) let's hear em.
