When considering driving our Super Duty…

Does it even meet legal driving height requirements?

I recently had to ask myself this question as we were (and still are) considering a full revival of our lifted F-250 for some future articles...

According to www.customtruckshowcase.com/laws, California law bases vehicles legal ride-height on how far their frame is from the ground and also on GVWR.

If your truck’s GVWR is 4,501 to 7,500 pounds, the maximum frame height is 30-inches.
If your truck’s GVWR is 7,501 to 10,000 pounds, the maximum frame height is 31-inches. Our Super Duty belongs in the latter category. So, it was time for a measurement…

And, we are legal at 28 ½-inches. So knowing that we are safe to wonder the streets of California, what do you think we should do with the truck? Should we keep it off paved surfaces (like the donor magazine of 4-Wheel & Offroad originally intended)? Or, should we beef up the chassis, lower it back down to earth, and hook it to the sled in a Street Diesel Class? Should we de-Stroke it (and/or Fummins it)? Or should we focus on cleaning up the rough body work and cleaning out the cluttered bed for now?
