I thought this was pretty cool for those of you into hauling quads, dirt bikes, side-by-sides, or light-weight vehicles to remote, off-road locations...
The Avanti can tow up to 5,000 pounds, is powered by International’s Maxx Force 5 (4.5L V-6) diesel engine with 200 horsepower at *2,500 rpm and 440 lb-ft at 1,800 rpm, and an Allison 6-speed transmission does the shifting.
It’s priced between $144,060 and $146,580, which seems a little pricey, but what luxurious RV isn’t these days? The Avanti is 31½-feet long, can sleep five, claims to be the most fuel efficient RV on the market, and comes with all the amenities you could want. You can even check out full, detailed floor plans on their site at:

Not that we delve deeply into vehicles like RV’s here at Diesel Power, but by simply looking around at a place like Glamis, Pismo Beach, or any off-road location, how many tents do you really see these days?
This leads me to my next question… Is traditional camping (aka in a “tent”) history?
