No, not the vegetable! (But a good joke, especially during harvest season) If you own an old body style Power Stroke, Super Duty, or have de-stoked your blue oval in favor of a common-rail Cummins, chances are you’ve heard of this guy…
Our ’97 Power Stroke recently gained a couple hundred lb-ft, thanks to a budget-friendly combo from Bean’s Diesel Performance. In short, we spent $2,000 and gained 90 rear wheel horsepower, 200 lb-ft, and broadened our engine’s peak operating range by more than 400 rpm. A dynograph in the December issue will display the truck’s newfound power, and it’s greatly increased power curve.
While some aftermarket guys tend to move on to newer trucks with better technology and more power potential, Bean hasn’t forgotten the old body stylers, and has made it possible to wake up the old, lackluster 7.3L’s pretty affordably.
