Yes, it’s true. Even Southern California, in the heart of clean air country, has diesel truck nights on a regular basis…
Held twice a month, this particular get-together usually brings out a small crowd. Although, the first one I went to I could’ve sworn there were over 25 trucks in attendance. The majority of trucks are usually Chevy’s, where back home (Illinois/Indiana area) an event like this would be plum-full of Dodges.
One theory I have for this is: a lot (not all) of Duramax masterminds are out here on the West coast. Companies like SoCal Diesel and TTS to name a few, as well as one of the countries’ best Allison transmission builders at Inglewood Transmission. The direct opposite of that exists where I’m from. In Illinois and Indiana you’ve got Scheid Diesel and Haisley Machine, both known for building 1,000+ horsepower Cummins engines on a regular basis.
Just fuel for thought.
