Starting With The Weakest Link

Before You Build An Invincible Truck

We all want our trucks to be invincible, do we not?

In my case, I believe my weakest link is my ancient E4OD automatic. As the truck now gets 250 hp and nearly 500 lb-ft to the ground, it’s failure could definitely be in the cards, depending on how I operate it. (The converter will fail first I’m sure). I look forward to addressing the transmission with a full rebuild or complete/new transmission. From there, I think I’ll need to address my EGTs, which don’t get out of hand, but will once I start towing out here in elevation. This improvement will come from a better flowing turbo, and an intercooler.

Addressing your trucks weakest link is important before diving in, and making big power. So, what is your trucks weakest link?

My wish-list:
Transmission: NADP, BTS or John Wood-built E4OD, Sun Coast: torque converter (PN E4OD-SD34-3D), billet input (4R-300M) and output shafts (PN E4R100-BOS), intermediate shaft (PN E4R100-BIN), deep tranny pan, and tranny cooler (PN 4739)
