So, we got this crazy idea in our heads. “Hey, I heard it’s snowed as much as 2-feet up in the mountains this past week, and they’re expecting a foot more. How about we go up there and play in it a little?”
Well, a little turned into a lot (especially with off-roader/trail-bound David Kennedy along for the trip). What was planned out to be a leisure playday in the snow, turned into a “you get me unstuck on this drifted trail, and then I’ll un-stick you” excursion in the mountains.
Long story short, in the last, foot-deep, 30-foot long hole filled with ice, snow and 1,000 gallons of water, my Ford’s front end SUNK (Thank you 1,000-pound Power Stroke engine). While one, then two Jeeps were yanking the living daylights out of my Ford, a strap cut loose at twice the speed of light and took out my driver side parking light, side marker, and part of my grille.
I must say though, it was well worth it. As we came across a ’98 H1 Hummer (aka: real Hummer) who proved very instrumental in getting us out of our little mountain mess. We also ran into a few good Marines in a Rubicon as well, who were convinced they could get the old Ford out. They never gave up in their yanking efforts, and finally got us out after being stuck more than 3 hours.
