Hmmm… Shortbed Conversion?

I came across this shortbed this weekend down by the border…

And I’m pretty sure I can get a heckuva deal for it. I’ve always wanted to see what my old crew cab (longbed) would look like with a shortbed…

You see, you were pretty much stuck between a rock and a hard place with the ’94-’97 crew cab Power Strokes. Options didn’t run amuck on trucks like they do today. You either got an F-250 crew cab with a shortbed and the “dreaded” front TTB Dana 44, or a Dana 60-equipped F-350 crew cab, but had to settle for a longbed.

I’ve always wanted a shortbed, but wouldn’t be willing to cut my frame. For now, I guess I’ll just force myself to be content. Fuel for thought though.

1. This needs to be done. It would look great. I keep my sawzall handy. It is right next to my desk. Cut first ask questions later.

Or how about this?:
We put a regular cab on your truck then extend the bed. It would be a Super Bed. Might look funny but it would come in handy.

2. Dont go shortbed! It would look ridiculous with a crew cab F-350! Trucks are meant to be useful and whats more useful than a long bed. Plus, thats more room to make use of you diesels payload capacity. I think short beds look stupid on all trucks. Whats the difference between a crew cab short bed an a fullsize SUV?(I know techinically, but think about it).

3. Just do it, call gene and pull the trigger on it. I know you can get that bed pretty cheap. Just dont paint it black, you will never get the swirl out of the paint. hey that super bed idea sounds pretty good. another one of those "why did'nt I think of that first" I spit ice water all over the computer when I read it.

5. I heard the bed was free to a good home. By good home i mean on a f-350. How can you go wrong, it's even the right color. Call gene and do it!
