Build an Engine With a Paper Clip

Diesel Survivalist

I would like to be stuck in the wilderness with a broken down truck and only one way to get out. Fix it or die.

That might be a little dramatic but I think it would be fun to get stuck somewhere and then have to fix the truck in order to get back to civilization. Ever since I was little I packed survival kits and tried to make it in the woods. My favorite books were military survival manuals and "How to Stay Alive in the Woods" by Bradford Angier. Today I watch Survivor Man and that other show similar to it (it is one of the few shows I can watch due to my self diagnosed attention deficit disorder).

Or maybe with the way the economy is going a real life survival situation might occur. Lets say it all breaks down and no services are provided including getting fuel. What would you do? I have no idea how to make gasoline but I could press my own soybeans.

Anyone have a good story about how they saved the day by getting a truck running with a paper clip and some duct tape? What would you pack in a bare bones  diesel survival kit?
