Project 300 is soon getting a turbo.  Plus we track down a pesky fuel leak.

We are in the process of installing a wastegated ATS Aurora 2000 turbo on our 1987 Ford F-250. It makes 8 psi of max boost. Since the IDI has so much compression already that is all it needs. The first step we took was removing the old insulation. Then we relocated the vacuum distribution block (at least 3-inches toward the passenger side and 3-inches up on the firewall.) We replaced the old vacuum line (11/32-inch) since it was too short and in bad shape.   Make sure to replace the old hose with vacuum hose not fuel line since the latter is too thin to support the pressure. We bought the hose at Leon's Auto Parts at 1619 So. La Cienega Blvd here in Los Angeles. I will buy all my parts here since they have it all (or can get it fast). Support your local parts shops or you'll regret it when they are no more.

Lastly we removed the driver's side valve cover and put the new ATS one in its place. If your engine has the emissions label on the driver side you have to switch it to the passenger side so you don't remove that information.

Take a look at the 5/16-inch fuel return line going from the injection pump to the hard line. Follow it a little farther and you will see a brass fitting. This fitting was loose and leaking fuel. This might be one of those hard to find leak prone points.
