I’m not going to try to rub it in too much, but It’s 62 degrees and sunny today in southern California, which got me thinking…

How many of you have heated shops or garages that you work out of? With warmer weather on the horizon (around the country soon, not just here), I would imagine that late-night wrenching sessions will be on the rise.

I personally, like to work on things later in the day, and into the night. This doesn’t always run parallel with Thompson’s plans when we both agree to meet here at the office to work on something. But, we make it happen. And the fact that we work on things in the parking lot or parking garage here at the office doesn’t really help out when nightfall comes, so I do my best to do the whole “morning person” routine—which I’m getting better at.

What about you? Are you a morning person, or are you a night person stuck in a morning person’s world?

1. I would have to consider myself a morning person. This past weekend I awoke at 5:40am Saturday, loaded an air compressor and a bunch of tools in the bed of my truck and went to work. Spent half day replacing a water pump on an Ottawa spotter truck, then headed over to I.S.S.'s shop. Worked on an '09 6.7 till bout 7-7:30 that night, then came back Sunday mid-morning and finished the 6.7 project about 5:00 pm. Oh did I forget to mention the weather was warm in central IL (60ish) but had to stop the project and find cover from a tornado followed by 65mph winds that came ripping thru about noonish. Came out of hiding and finished the job with NO POWER!!!

2. Wow! That sounds like downstate Illinois weather these days. Remember Christmas time, with those tornados? Crazy!

By the way, I hope whoever's truck that was owes you a favor now, pretty cool you were able to finish up the project with no power (no air, no lights in a dark shop etc...)
