What Were We Doing In A $140,000 Bimmer?

I’ve been working on the story the past couple days, and although I wrote out my thoughts on the car, I don’t think they’ll make the cut for the final story (for space limitation reasons, and I like to write—a lot).

So here they are. If they make it into the story then so what, at least you got a sneak peek before the June issue, right?

Post-drive, post-dyno, post-thrashing Driving Impressions:

“I thought the electric lumbar option on my Ford was fancy when I first got the truck. Having 20-way front power seats (14-way in rear), front and rear seat memory, a built-in three-function garage door opener, rain-sensing windshield wipers with heated washer fluid, and a liquid-cooled alternator as basic options is a little overwhelming for me.”

“Nevertheless, I liked the power of the car. Although it could’ve been more impressive performance-wise, the 4.4L had no problem propelling the 2½-ton sedan, and did so quickly—and quietly. I liked the sleek black look of the car as well. It almost looked like something Johnny Cash would drive.”

So, if the man in black liked diesels and was still around, do you think he would've sat behind the wheel of one of these?
