After running a set of Toyo Open Country M/Ts on the road (where little, if any, road noise occurred), we put them through their paces in the local river bottoms…
Once we’d blasted a few big mud holes, we crept through a couple times, letting the tires do their thing. We noticed right away that the Toyo’s seemed to clean out very well.
Since we wanted to use Project 24-valve to complete the testing, six 265/70R17 meats were needed to get the job done. And, while you don’t necessarily think of a dualie when you think of off-roading or tire-testing, our thinking was more along the lines of versatility. With an E-load range, along with the fact that Project 24-valve tows and hauls heavy on a regular basis, we wanted to showcase a serious and more-than-capable mud terrain for the dual rear wheel diesel owner.
Look for a more in depth review of our Toyo test in the coming months.
