Genius Death Match

Tesla Versus Carnot

Why do people get so bent out of shape when discussing the work that's performed from heat differences and electrical differences for example Battery Electric Vehicle Versus Diesel Vehicle. What do electric vehicle enthusiasts have against radiant heat energy?

Tesla

Imagine putting Nicolas Leonard Sadi Carnot and Nikola Tesla in a glass box and then have them fight it out like a kid putting a scorpion and spider together. Tesla would summon his super electrical powers and send a thunderbolt at the Frenchman. Carnot would respond with a heat wave and finish Tesla off. Seriously if those two ever met they would probably not fight and instead ask the other how something works.

Carnot

The vehicle pictured is called the Carnot and it's designed to compete with the Tesla.  In this configuration it uses electricity but no batteries. Batteries are heavy and bad for the environment at this point.  Has anyone seen how they recycle cars in India? I have and it involves little hands. Guess what those same little hands strip the plastics from the metals in all electronic devices. So once people are done with their Prius probably next month it will be interesting to see where they end up.  I've also seen smashers that pulverize electronics and then sort them out later. This is ok but not ideal. Haste makes waste. Let's compare the Tesla and the Carnot.

Carbon Footprint

The Carnot smashes the  Tesla in this category. First off the Carnot is based from a 1987 Ford F-250 which has already been made. The Tesla is based off a clean sheet that designers had to design and build. The Carnot uses renewable hydrogen and biodiesel the Tesla is at the mercy of the California electrical grid.  Think Blackouts and major infrastructure costs plus coming up with lithium.

The Carnot in Detail

One of its best features is closed cycle combustion based off Carnot's perfect cycle engine. Carnot's cycle had the working fluid used over and over again. To get closer to that this engine  is capable of using 100% EGR. In order to do that the cylinder is filled with an inert gas, hydrogen, and oxygen. Water is periodically drained while in this mode.

The 6.9L International IDI engine was selected because of its inefficiencies caused by excessive surface area in the twin combustion chamber. More heat sinks into the block which could have been used to drive the pistons. No matter we're saving that heat for the Cyclone WHE. The IDI's design calls for less injection pressure since turbulence is created in the combustion chamber when air goes from one section to the other. This makes it easier to spin the injection pump (I'm guessing).

Another fuel strategy involves turning the carbon from the biodiesel into diamonds.

It's called a diamond particulate filter (DPF).  Diamonds are the future the only problem is there will be diamonds on the highway. Women will complain that they have diamonds on the soles of her feet? People could fall so maybe diamond technology is not practical?

The Carnot stores energy in its biodiesel, compressed tanks, and spinning carbon fiber flywheel.

What is Energy? Carnot and Tesla were the closest at describing what it was because they didn't believe that you could hold  a piece of energy in your hands. They thought energy flowed. They were closer to what Einstein was talking about compared to Newton.

When will mechanics catch up with physics?

Also think about perpetual motion this way. It is impossible to not have perpetual motion. Scientists have been trying to get to absolute zero for awhile and they might not ever get there. Quantum physicists have observed energy not behaving the way we think it should. For example a particle observed behaves differently from one that is not. Also cause and effect pretty much goes out the window when you really look at small pieces of atoms. The energy is there we just need to harness it. Mass is energy and it never rests the electrons move at the speed of light. Also consider sonics.
