In my opinion, the initial arrival in Terre Haute is one of the more exciting moments of the weekend. Your interest is peaked, your ears are perked up, and you’re listening to and looking at what makes this event so special—thousands of diesels invading a small town.
Hopefully this year will start a new tradition, one where Cummins, Duramax, and Power Stroke operators keep their street manners intact, and save their 3,000+ rpm runs for the sled pull or drag strip. If all goes well, the rain will leave us alone this year too. It would be nice to see the event unfold as it’s supposed to: qualifying hundreds of sled pullers on Friday afternoon, and watching PPL tractors that night as kind of a teaser for Saturday’s non-stop action.
