Immediate Observations/Conclusions

After installing the ATS intercooler this past weekend, I’ve drawn some immediate conclusions on its system…

Things I like:

-Easy install

-Basic hand tools get the job done

-The only cutting done was on the fender wells (no Sawzall needed)

-The truck didn’t need to be hacked up to fit the system in

-The cooler mounts using existing holes (no drilling)

-The cooler mounts behind the front bumper:
so it’s protected by the bumper, and does not block any airflow across the radiator

-Virtually no drop in boost

-While pretty straight forward, ATS also included detailed instructions

-At this point, there is nothing I don’t like about how this system installed

-No additional lag time (typical after adding an intercooler)

-An overall drop in EGTs of 100 degrees (observing Pyrometer in cab)

Next up, temperature indicators will be placed before and after the intercooler to get some real-time data (rather than just watching the Pyrometer in the cab).
