Dabbling With Additives, Again

An Inexpensive Fix For Injector Issues?

Today I received some ‘dyno’ fuel additive from Midwest Fuel Injection (photo), and also started a side project with Lubrication Specialties…

Its product, called Hot Shots Secret, is an oil additive that is said to help solve injector issues (namely “stiction”). According to Lubrication Specialties, oil in high-pressure common-rail engines is subjected to extreme heat, which can oxidize the oil, allow varnish buildup to form in the injector, and eventually stop it altogether.

We’ll be trying out the oil additive, along with some of its fuel additive in an ’05 Dodge suffering from slow startups, rough idling, hesitation, and lack of power issues. I’ll report back with some results on the outcome in the future.
