I couldn’t wait to show this off any longer, so here it is…

With rain falling once again here today, it only drags out the harvest season even more. So, what do board farmers that can’t get into the fields do in central Illinois? They put contraptions like this together!

Goodbye salamander heaters, hello propane-powered turbine heaters.

Starting with a turbocharger off a C12 CAT engine (over-the-road turbo, I assume), an air cleaner off an old semi serving as part of the plumbing, 5-inch stack off a pickup for an oil reservoir, and an oil pump, the project turned out alright for someone cursed with idle hands for a day.

The owner of this modern day work of art also brought along a 30 – 40 gallon LP tank for plenty of fuel supply.

The demonstration made my day.
