Upgrading Turbos

Less EGT, More HP?

Recently, I had a stock Garrett turbocharger for my ’97 upgraded to move more air…

This should keep EGT at bay in elevation and allow me to utilize my tow tunes with an actual load behind the truck. With my goal being to keep EGT manageable on a long, drawn-out 6 percent grade, I might start with an empty trailer behind the truck. If the truck passes the first test, I’ll throw a truck on the trailer and see how that goes. I’m also going to look into a newer trailer brake controller. Anyone have an opinion on the best brand?

And, by being just a few ponies under 350, we should have no problem picking up some hp in our next dyno visit. I’m hoping for 370 hp. We’ll see.
