Growing up, did you ever want to beat your dad at something he was very good at?...

Well, at last night’s ITPA pull in Decatur, Illinois, Rod Tarr’s son, Dalton, ousted his dad’s pull by two feet, and took the win in the 3.0 Pro Stock diesel class. For those that don’t know, Rod Tarr’s Super Ram is a force to be reckoned with on this circuit (2nd Place in the points chase in ’09), and throughout the country in this particular 1,000hp – 1,400hp class. It was funny, too. Right before Dalton Tarr hooked to the sled (he pulled last, I believe) and I thought to myself, it would be cool if he stole the show from his dad, there’s nothing like a little family rivalry/competitiveness. And lo and behold, he pulled the sled two feet further for First Place (313-feet vs. 311-feet).

It would also be cool if a diesel motorsports channel came on television. Wouldn’t it? Then you could get updates on all the local pulling and drag racing action around the country. Things like the ITPA pull I attended last night, NADM events, NHRDA events, and all the regional diesel motorsports circuits would be covered.

Does anybody remember when ESPN used to show tractor pulling back in the 80’s? It was on late at night, but at least it was on TV. Wouldn’t it be nice to see diesels on a standard cable channel again?...
