An engineer friend of mine, that knows a thing or two about diesel Ford trucks, sent me this YouTube link.
http://www.youtube.com/dvg793
It shows a specially armored military vehicle for use in areas that a regular Hummer wouldn’t fit—or wouldn’t fit in. See, sometime protection and security are as much a function of appearances as they are a reality. In other words, a tank may have plenty of armor to protect you—but every enemy knows to shoot at a tank. A taxi cab on the other hand blends in, and nobody would think to shoot at a taxi cab—even if it were a diesel-powered, armor-plated pickup.
We’re not saying that the Non-Standard Tactical Truck (NSTT) that the Defense Venture Group put together is a taxi—but we wouldn’t mind getting hauled around New Your City in it.
The truck is one-off creation that’s not based on any particular production vehicle. It does appear to have production pieces that you would be familiar with.
The armored body is styled after a short-coarse racing Nissan truck. The engine is a 325hp International VT365 (the basis of the 6.0L Ford Power Stroke), the wheels are from a Hummer H1, and the transmission is an Allison 1000.
