the insurance company does'nt have to pay what the vehicle is worth , just what
they find advertised in a paper ,whether it's drivable or not. I haven't been able to pick up and read your great mag since I was almost killed ,Dec. 11, 2009. I just can't stomach seeing all those nice trucks knowing I'll never be able to build another one.My truck was totaled by a honda civic driven by an idiot that had taken too much of his meds. Lesson : always have an estimate of your vehicles worth updated yearly or after major upgrades.
Continued a few days later:
I'm sending some more pics ,The left frame rail is sitting on the ground. That's the driveshaft in the forground. the left front tire is now where my feet were, shoved into the passenger compartment. The air cleaner is under the dash , which has been pushed back over a foot.If you look close you can see my water/meth injector. The engine seems to have survived as did the trans. Even though I was wearing my seatbelt, the steering wheel hit me leaving a very large gash on my chin and throat. I broke my hands, probably when they slipped off the wheel and broke the windshield. The man that hit me was doing at least 55mph. He was driving a Honda !! It'll be a long time before I can work on anything , I still have to have surgery on my right hand. Thanks for the shout back , keep up the good work !! Randy from Wva.
