And it towed better than I ever thought it would. I’m proud to say that, even back in the day, Ford’s engineers were great at isolating the load from the driver with its trucks. I barely felt like anything was back there, and the added power helped a bunch—it ran cool and had no problem getting up to speed. I couldn’t imagine towing anything heavy with a bone stock 7.3L.
Even more surprising was how well my ancient Tekonsha Voyager XP brake controller worked. I think I’ll keep it.
PS: I thought about loading Project 24-valve on the trailer to keep readers guessing about what we’re doing to it next, but it was too wide to clear the fenders on the trailer.
