The ’03 LB7 shown has quite a back story (we’ll give you the whole scoop in a future feature story in the magazine), but to put a long story short it wears a clearcoat of Inferno red paint, thanks to a previous wreck that was not the driver’s fault, weighs 6,600 pounds, and makes 585 rwhp.

The truck spends a lot of time creeping through hay fields with a gooseneck trailer hooked to it, so a set of electric fans from Flex-a-lite were added to keep the truck cool while on the job. The best part about this truck is the fact that its standard cab, 8-foot bed configuration makes it unique in a world polluted with four-door, short beds.

Hopefully regular cab trucks will make a comeback one day…

Interesting what you said about regular cabs. My reg. cab 03 F-250 is great, but a regular cab really limits what I can do with my truck. Road trips with more than 2 people, forget about it. I dont want someone squished against, me with T&A being the exception. Taking a bunch of gear and luggage, kinda works with the tool box, but not convient. My truck cab honestly isnt big enough for me to be confortable on long road trips. Im not huge, 6'2" and 210 lbs. Is the drivers area bigger than

I dunno, im thinking about trading in for a crew cab or at least a extended cab/quad cab/club cab truck. Always long bed though. Dont get short beds..

What about you Mike, would you rather you rig be a regular cab? Parking that beast in Los Angeles must be a pain at times.

I think all of DP's project truck are regular cabs beside for you '97 and 24-valve.

2. There are definitely times I wish it was a good old standard cab. All of my family's OBS's have been standard cabs, so it was funny when I bought my crew cab. But back when my truck was built it was a rarity, as most trucks out there were regular cabs still.

For space, I love my four door. But for plowing and parking it makes no sense, lol.

3. Regular cabs are nice but they'd be better if you could bolt in a second cab for road trips. My dad's F-150 regular cab had two bench seats on the sides and was carpeted with storage or could fold flat into a bed. There were seatbelts but we didn't use them. A topper with sliding windows was added too. My sister and I would crawl back and forth through the sliding window on road trips up north pulling a fishing boat.

4. The only downside of a regular cab is having to drive the wifes minivan to take the family on an outing.I notice a lot of fleet trucks are the same configuration, so i guess for a very small crew this would be an excellent work truck,especially with that much jam.YEE HAA!!!

6. I think its a pretty sexy rig myself, but I'm bias.

An extended cab would be nice in a-lot of situations, but nimble maneuverability is king when it comes to negotiating a tight barn lot.

Plus being such a light weight makes that power go a-lot farther!
