The truck is now equipped with one of Source Automotive’s 6.7L twin-turbo kits, which retained the stock VNT as the high pressure charger, and the factory exhaust brake. An S400-based low pressure charger sits on bottom, and the truck now makes 70 psi of boost on the street. And, obviously, hauls quite a bit more tail now.
To remedy the 6.7L Cummins’ tendency to pop head gaskets (when modified), the head was fire-ringed at Scheid Diesel and now uses a modified 5.9L head gasket. Stiffer, 4,000-rpm valvesprings and oversized valve seats were also added (the oversized exhaust seats will prevent them from falling out in high-heat scenarios). The head is also now fastened to the block with custom age ARP head studs torqued to 170 ft-lbs.
We’re going to see what kind of numbers it will lay down on the dyno next week. We’re hoping for 600hp.
