I got this message from my engineer friend Tyler. Can't believe he builds those giant treadmills for testing F1 cars and I'm writing for Diesel Power. Who would have guessed it...isn't America great.   Humble beginnings.

Message from Tyler upset about my new chrome bumpers from the recent P-300 article (I like them because I think it will keep me from getting pulled over in Beverly Hills again and they are light. The steel we used was like 3/8-inch thick or more that was thicker than the frame!):

"You must be getting soft?  What happened to the days of custom bumpers made from steel and welded to the truck and then coated with a sweet American flag paint job?"

(We got this Bronco from our friend Willy for $200. Then we put a 2-inch body lift, 35 inch Baja claws, and custom bumper. Then we beat the crap out of it. This thing was jumped, mudded and served as a tank for paintball. We had a 78 Bronco too that we got from his grandpa's unofficial junkyard. We spent hours wrenching. The good old days. This might have been 10 years ago. )
