By all accounts, heavy-duty truck sales rebounded in 2010. Hopefully the upward trend will continue on through 2011 (and beyond).
Ford Super Duty (F-450/F-550 not included):
193,822 trucks
Ram (4500/5500 cab-and-chassis included):
75,867 trucks
Chevrolet Silverado HD:
74,027 trucks
GMC Sierra HD:
28,555 trucks
From this data, GM sold a total of 102,582 ¾-ton and 1-ton HD’s, which was (at least) 26,715 more than what Ram sold—giving the General the number two slot for total truck sales pertaining to the market we cover. Ford once again outsold the competition, combined.
Not that it matters to us, but Chevy’s ½-ton sales were close to matching Fords, which makes the light-duty vs. heavy-duty sales gap more weighted for Chevy (it sells a lot more 1500s than 2500 and 3500s). Both Ford and Ram’s heavy-duty sales make up 38 percent of its truck sales (light and heavy), while Chevy’s heavy-duty sales make up 20 percent.
