My dad works at a rural electric co-op so I've always been interested in power lines. Why not have the poles generate the power?

Self Generating Power Lines work by harnessing the power of the wind. On top of each carbon fiber pole there is a sail. The sail catches the wind and makes the pole move around a little. Underground there is 8 hydraulic cylinders transferring the power from up top into hydraulic pressure, which turns a pump and then an electric generator. The power is passed on down the line.
