Well, the tune that called for more fuel paid off…

The ’97 kicked out 436 hp at 2,850 rpm and 818 lb-ft at 2,750 rpm under a 30 percent load yesterday! Boost peaked in the mid 30s, EGT only crept to 1,400 degrees for a second, and fuel pressure maintained 60 psi. I’m sure ICP maintained nicely as well, in order to get the numbers we did. Fun on the street? You bet.

We also dyno’d my 'Heavy Tow' tune, which made 330 hp and never let EGT exceed 1,100 degrees, and then clicked up to the Economy setting (where I spend most of my time) and laid down 378 hp. It’s funny, now my daily driver tune makes more hp than the truck’s old hot tune did (back with the Stage 1 injectors).

I must admit though, after the Diesel Power Challenge my new dyno results seem pretty small. Even though I consider them good numbers for a 7.3L, they’re still about half of what the majority of this year’s competitors laid down on the rollers... Am I still in DPC mode? Ah huh.
