Immediately after uploading Green Diesel Engineering's Eco tune on our Jeep, I changed the oil and sent a used oil sample in for analysis...

As it was the vehicle’s first analysis, no prior data exists to compare, but at the next oil change interval we’ll be doing another analysis.

Oil Condition (particle count, ct/ml):

ST (soot) 56

OXI (oxidation) 16

NIT (nitration) 10

SUL (sulfation) 23

W (water) no

A (antifreeze) no

F (fuel) no

V100 14.4 (indicates how well the oil is breaking down, 14.4 is good)

*All of our wear metal analysis results are normal (data not shown), the oil’s water/fuel/glycol tests are negative, and all other infrared results are acceptable. However, the soot content was found to be marginal.

It’s our thinking that, since EGR is disabled now, the soot count will be much closer to 0 (vs. 56). In short, the oil will be a lot less contaminated than it was before (and we’ll have data to prove it with our next oil analysis results).

I just had to send you a picture and a little story of my diesel experience.

Having worked as a technician and supervisor for Cat Dealer 35 years and now and Heavy Construction. Working the "big" iron. I just can't get enough diesel. My first was a 1981 VW pickup 1.6 diesel. thru the years I have owned twelve.

Presently I have the 2006 Jetta tdi. with 87,000 miles with the following mods. Diesel Geek Amsoil bypass lube filter, and Panzer skid plate. Northern PA roads are bad. saves the oil pan. Stock fuel settings, average mileage 46 mpg. daily driver

My favorite is my 1985 Jeep Cherokee Stock, turbo, intercooled, diesel. automatic. 2.1 L Renault 57,000 original miles. The neat thing it is vin number 5 off the line. I picked it up for $800.00 ten years ago with a broken cam belt. It is a multiple first place winner a local Jeep shows. runs on weekends and special outings.

We're did you find that Jeep...Canada? I've always wanted one like that or with the 2.8/2.5 VM Motori. Awesome diesels but could you send a higher res image of them?

I'd like to do a feature on that Jeep if you were closer to LA.

The Diesel Cherokee's were sold in the U.S. 1985 thru 1987. They used the 2.1 thru 1993 for export, then went to the VM. Back in the early 80's Jeep and Renault were partners. Have you ever seen the Winnebago LeSharo. It used the same engine. The Cherokee I presently have is my third. There is a long story with each one. it is like I was to have them. I also used the drivetrain from one to repower a Wrangler. It was almost a bolt in. Ran it four years, then ended up taking the diesel stuff out and selling the rest due to frame rot. I will try to get a higher res picture to you of the Cherokee.

I put in the submission It was Stock. Well it has a Grease car kit in it that I run filtered used vegetable oil in it. I Start and shut down on diesel. my last tank of diesel I got 1,543 miles on it. 101 mpg. and used 51 gallon of cooking oil and 15.154 gallon of diesel. Who needs a hybrid.

Here are a few more pictures showing the engine and the Grease Car set up. I will do what I can to have an article about my Cherokee. when the liberty got he diesel they made a big deal about it being the first U.S. spec.suv.Well they were wrong.

3. Caterpillar did the oil analysis (Cedar Rapids, IA).

No bypass filtration or added filters for now...just after mpg for the time being.

4. How ofton will u change the oil?

5. The book says 6,250 but I've been going every 5,500. However, the oil tested had 3,800 on it, so I will change the new oil at that interval.
