While on the subject of flare side, old body style Fords, I couldn’t help but run this by you guys…
It’s our good friend, Jack D’s ’97 (solid axle) F-250 crew cab. Over the winter, he outfitted the flare side bed and spent countless hours prepping the rust-free, California truck for the Atomic orange paint it ultimately received. It’s a far cry from the black coat it used to wear and sets it apart from the crowd, for sure.
Stripping to bear metal: 60+ hours
Body work: 50 hours (including fabrication to make the bed look right)
His next move with the older Ford is the addition of a Super Duty turbo pedestal, up-pipes, inter cooler, a set of 238 to 300cc (not decided yet) hybrids, and a Garrett turbo of some kind. If that happens, 500-rwhp should complement its new look even more.
