Despite a torrential downpour delaying the sled pull, last Saturday's Hoosier State Showdown did indeed go down...
One cool thing I noticed is how popular the 2.5 Work Stock Class is getting. With 2.6 allowing hanging weight, blocked rear suspension, etc... it's all but out of reach for trucks not purpose built to pull, and making less than 800 hp. And while it may not be this way forever, a 550-to-700 hp setup can get you in the winner's circle in Work Stock. Let's face it, a lot of street trucks are laying down 550 to 600, easy. I hope this class explodes with competitors.
Another trend I noticed (on several trucks) was the hitch protruding through the roll pan (pictured) that doubles as a rear license plate mount. Sure makes for a nice, neat, clean look (and who thought roll pans were only for drag racers?).
I also took some photos of a 2.6 Class common-rail Dodge that has been tuned via EFILive, and is making north of 800-rwhp. You'll see it featured in an upcoming issue of the magazine.
