Finally, after a winter-long battle, the Liberty’s mileage jumped up last week…
On my way down to the National Farm Machinery Show in Kentucky the little Jeep got 26.3 mpg. Being that winter blends of fuel are still going to be found in every pump you come across right now, I ruled in favor of 70-degree weather providing the mileage bump.
I also switched filling stations prior to the Kentucky trip. So, needless to say, that is now my fill up spot. With the weather back in the 30’s the mileage has still remained higher than the 20-22 mpg I was seeing before switching fuel pumps. The last three fill ups have yielded a 24mpg average.
Am I getting better quality diesel from my new favorite station?
*I wish there was a way I could test the fuel before putting it in my tank. At $5 a gallon (where they say it's headed), every tank is an investment.
