The "Radical Red" pulling tractor you see here cleaning up a 16mm Hypermax Sigma pump has a completely insane turbo setup on it, that we're way jealous of.

One of our diesel buddies told us that the tractor has twin 90+mm turbos on the atmosphere side, blowing into a "big" single, which then blows into a "smaller-big" single. That's four turbos in three stages folks. Boost is a whopping 226psi. Horsepower? Try in excess of 3,000hp out of a 500-ish cid engine.

Man going through that engine to see how its build would be amazing! I wonder what type of fasteners and gaskets are uses. Deckplates, girdles, some kind of wizardry that I dont know about..

4. Smoken Gun, the sled pulling world is insane, and Hypermax leads the way in a lot of stuff. Notice that the tractor is tuned by Max Simpson? He's the guy behind the "Simpson Valve," the control that virtually every serious mechanical water injection system has been using for the last 20 years.

I'd like to see some more on this type of stuff, as the tractor technology is in many ways ahead of the pickup performance. As far as distance, a 40,000 pound sled can stop anything due to traction issues, but lets just say this tractor normally finishes in the Top 5 at events all across the country.

5. The tractor world (and pickups for that matter) is greatly indebted to Hypermax. And owner, Jerry Lagod, has one heck of a history. I'd like to see a book written about him.
Maybe I'll write it...

I liked watching and learning from the 10,000-pound Pro Stock guys at the National Farm Machinery Show. Single, 5-inch inducer turbos pushing 130 pounds of boost, and making 2,XXX HP! Cool stuff.

6. We COULD learn a lot from the tractor world....I mean, there's nothing like hearing a 5,000rpm diesel getting drug down to 3,000rpm, and having it still stay lit.

Displacement is highly underrated in the diesel market, and I can see it coming into play in the future to provide us with wider powerbands so we dont have to rely on ten-speed transmissions ;)

I would love to know more about pulling tractors, they are amazing!! So many secret squirrel things to learn.

Thats why im going to a 6.7L Cummins Jason ;). Light a BIG single fairly quick on a daily driver :). Although the 12-valve keeps make me rethink that...damn im being such a women about this, LOL!

I would personally take the biggest displacement engine when given the choice (in almost all scenarios).

I think its funny diesel have been getting larger lately and gassers have been shrinking with more turbocharging to make up for it.

...still want a 18 speed trans though, haha.

I would like a automatic with the shifter on the center console (like most luxury cars have) and a manual shift mode.
