I know I just said I would cool it on modifying the ’97, but I don't think I can resist turning up the wick on these hybrids...
After doing quite a bit of browsing, I've decided to look into different T4 mounting options. There are simply too many T4 turbine inlet flange options out there to overlook it, or go with a typical Super Duty pedestal/up-pipe conversion.
I'd like to start by trying a few S300 chargers (a 63mm version, followed by a 66mm, then a few others). I'd like to check back pressure vs. boost on each and wastegate accordingly, as well.
This is what I will be looking into:
*Super Duty 7.3L intercooler (the aluminum version)
*Fabricated 3-inch intercooler plumbing
*Comp Cams 910 valvesprings (with 0.030 - 0.035 shims)
Let's face it, 7.3L owners have always been faced with (or stuck with) one or two turbo options per mounting application. This would open the door to all kinds of existing (and new) options.
