I think diesel is our new Captain Planet. Instead of gettting our power from Mr. Burns imagine if we all had a little diesel powerplant at our house, neighborhood, or compound.  The elecrtic battery people want to take away our ring power.

    The disaster in Japan has changed everything. We are now in a totally different world.

On another piece of news that would make Gaia frown:

 I just found out they are going to build a cell phone tower by one of the last remaing true wilderness areas in the United States. I'm an environmentalist in the Teddy Roosevelt sense versus the Al Gore sense. I wish we would set more land aside.

There is a time and place for everything. I like using old quarries as off roading areas for example. Plus Northern Minnesota has all kinds of trails and lakes that offer motorized recreation areas.

There is something about being way out in the woods where you can't hear any motors, cars, planes, trains, speakers, no lights, only the moon, loons, beavers cutting down trees, moose rustling about, fish jumping, and wolves howling.
