Welcome to the most comprehensive turbo test ever! We'll be measuring boost pressure, drive pressure, EGT, discharge temperature, spool rpm, time to full boost, and more. And of course, Horsepower and torque. We'll also be testing turbos from 58mm to 71mm to answer the question of which size works best at what rpm.

Unfortunately this isn't a "next week" type of test because we need driving impressions on each turbo also.....sooo....you'll have to wait until deep into 2012 to get results on one of the most detailed tests we've ever done, but trust us, it will be worth the wait!

1. "Most comprehensive test ever" assuming for DPM. If not, then that seems like a bit of a reach there Sands :).

I will also ask that nitrous not be used to determine when and how a turbo will spools ;), haha.

Stopping at 71mm comp? Why? Is this going to be on your P-pump 12-valve only Jason or a variety of trucks?

2. Yup on my truck....and 71mm as a single is big for most street trucks! Not everything is race-oriented even if that's what is glamorous.

No nitrous.

And, outside of SAE tests, this SHOULD be the most comprehensive. Know anyone else measuring all those stats on different chargers?

3. 71mm might be a mass street use single for a 12-valve, but not neccesarily for everthing, as you know. I was kind of hoping for testing on several different engines. In addition to your truck, I was hoping for a CR 5.9L, a CR 6.7L Cummins, 6.4L Powerstroke, 6.7L Powerstroke, and varies Duramaxes.

There seems to be quite a few guys running around with S472s on there street/towing use 6.7L Cummins with great driving manners.

I'm sure turbo sellers (like ED or FI) have all that data and more. I don't think it is publically available info though, as some of it is proprietary.

4. I would bet that Banks probably does a lot of testing like that, but again they are keeping the results to themselves. It will be sweet to see real world tests too. And don't forget to include specifications for the exhaust side of the turbos as well.

5. i need help,i have a 1999 cummins lately my batteries have been going dead for no reason today it was a rough start but it started 7 hours later it is dead.m also the wait to start light is taking 30 plus seconds to come on and my engine block heater doent seem to be working does any one have any ideas thanks
