The latest oil analysis on the Jeep looks pretty good, and even better considering we ran regular 15W-40 Shell Rotella for 6,000 miles instead of synthetic this time...
Our soot (ST on the analysis sheet) level continued to fall, and is almost non-existent now, thanks to 99% less EGR making its way into the engine. The percent fuel content (PFC) went up a hair, but at 1.11% it's still lower than the 1.67% we used to see, and is nothing to scoff at. I'm also pleased to see how well the 15W-40 oil performed (albeit with a lesser additive package), especially since it was run for 6,000 miles as opposed to the previous tests, conducted at 4,000-mile intervals (which may also explain why the PFC shot up a little with the 15W-40).
If you depend on your diesel every day for work or commuting, I highly recommend performing an oil analysis every once in a while (ideally at each oil change interval). For less than 12 bucks, it's pretty priceless info to have.
