How much is Diesel in Your Neck of the Woods?

— Just what the question begs. How much are you paying for diesel lately?

According to an article from the Journal of Commerce, diesel prices have increased to a 6-month high—even as crude oil is being traded at its lowest point in two months ($98/barrel)...

The average price nationwide is said to be $3.98. Around me, I've seen prices go from $3.79 to $3.95 in just a couple weeks. But as of today, I've seen a few places charging $3.84 to $3.89.

Saw it today for $4.09 at Fred Meyers.

I live in Tri-Cities in Southeast Washington.

At a cost of $98/bbl, and an average of 24% is diesel (information from this year), that comes out to %2.24/gal diesel. With refining, the whole ULSD bastardization of our fuel, and associated increased costs, plus transportation and profit, I could understand $3/gal.

I'd like to know where the rest of my money is going.

Your experience over the last few fill ups has been just like mine, albeit with different prices. Going from $3.75 (increasing every week 5-10 cents at a time) up to now.

3. The Flying J price is about @ $4.33 a gallon, one of the Arco's in Bakersfield is @ $4.08 which is the cheapest I've seen here.

4. Two weeks ago, I purchased diesel for 3.69 if paid in cash at the Sinclair gas station. Driving around, even 100+ miles from where I live, diesel prices are all sitting between $3.85-$3.89 per gallon.

6. Here in dallas I was paying 3.48 until a couple I weeks ago it went up to 3.79. Still better the then 4.15 from a few yrs ago

7. Just filled up on Sunday for $3.99 at Fred Meyer in Boise, ID. Most other places are $4.07 - $4.29 here.

10. It's about $3.70 here in south texas. The extra money per gallon is all taxes. The gov. taxes diesel fuel more because of the trucking industry. It actually costs less to refine diesel than gasoline. If you ever pay attention to the truck stops they always charge more for diesel than a regular gas station. They do this because the big rigs cant squeeze into those little places to fill up. By the way I'm in a oil refinery right now. LOL!

14. In southern Illinois its somewhere around $4.00 a gallon for biodiesel because that's all that's sold in Illinois but since I live so close to St. Louis I fill up over there and it's around $3.75 a gallon for ULSD.
