Our recent upgrades made to Project Street-Max paid off yesterday, thanks to Fleece Performance's tuning tweaks and DC Chassis Dyno's DynoJet 224xLC...
The hottest tune, while kept conservative in order to preserve our stock bottom end, still made 642 hp and 1,180 lb-ft. During the loaded, sweeping run, boost peaked at a safe 38 psi and EGT crept up to 1,500 degrees by the end of it (which is fine for short intervals: drag racing, sled pulling).
For the street, Fleece created a smokeless tune that still made an impressive 575 hp and 1,076 lb-ft (with boost once again peaking at 38 pounds, and EGT cooling off quite a bit).
Unfortunately, a 100 percent chance of rain hampered our efforts to make some seat-of-the-pants observations, so we'll wait for a dryer day to see what the truck can do on the street. We also neglected to check our mileage due to a midnight return home, but on the way to the dyno we saw just 13.9 mpg. I'm sure we'll see a huge increase in mileage now that the truck is tuned for the 60 percent over nozzles.
Next, we're heading back to Randall's Performance to see how much horsepower we gained since our last visit (and in order to keep the truck on the same dyno for our final numbers). We made 525 hp there during our last visit.
