The 2012 Diesel Power Challenge competitors have been announced, and after counting more than 6,500 votes--our readers have narrowed this year's competitors down to the following 10 trucks.

2. Good selection of rigs, should be interesting. I'd really love to see one of the lower hp rigs take it again like last year.

3. Im sick of the Cummins swaps. There was some 1000+ HP powerstrokes you could have picked from. Not the same generic Common rails. Its called team ford. Lets use some factory ford engines.

4. There Where 7 1000+HP powerstrokes. And they chose a 650HP Cummins swap? the other trucks where way more qualified. They was a 1000HP 6.0l that was also a dually. Why not him over that ridiculous cummins swap. Im disappointed with DP.

Competitor selection was 100 percent up to the readership this year. The only thing we did was collect the ballots and count the votes.

6. You have to remember too that Chevy, Dodge, and swap enthusiasts like the Ford/Cummins combos. The only people it pisses off is the hardcore Ford crowd. I think the fact that the truck that got in was from the late 70s and looked cool had as much to do with it as anything else. People always like stuff that's different.

7. Conversions are fine, but give them their own spot. It's absurd they get to take a spot away from a good running Ford. Finally have some tough Ford competition this year and the spots are used up with more cummins. Boring.

8. I didnt get to vote cuz my mailman sucks, but America did some bad voting. I agree with the cummins swaps. This competition is based on three distinct motors from three distinct company's. Fords should have power strokes, gm should have duramax and dodge have cummins. If u want to switch up body, motor, and trans, their should b seperate class for that. Make it 12 trucks with 3 trucks n 4 classes. The returning champ automatically gets one spot so pick 11 more to compete. Nothing against the competitors, but the huge 70's truck is gona snap the driveshaft like the blue 7.3 a few yrs ago. Huge lifts are no bueno for pulling. I hope the cummins swap "poop out" so we get real make/model trucks next year.

9. What happens if someone enters a Ford with a Cummins swapped in from an F650, then is that ok??

12. I say let everyone do their own thing, swap or stock engine. There's that Ford with a DT360, another one with a DT466, yet another with a 6v53T. I know a guy who swapped a C7 into his 01 Dodge, that orange and blue 01 Dodge with the 12 valve, 24v Cummins in a 2000 Chevy, P-pump 6.7 jobs, turbo'd IDI's, and I've pondered putting a 6CTA into my pickup. Everyone has their own ideas and ways of doing things, let it ride.
