It was a hot, humid day up at Route 66 Raceway on Saturday. But nothing could keep some of the quickest diesel vehicles in the country from coming...
We'll start with the Scheid Diesel dragster, which clicked off a 6.88-second quarter-mile at 199 mph during test and tune. Following passes would include a 7.26 at 198 mph and a 7.31 at 185 mph. (Unfortunately, the Hypermax Engineering dragster encountered some problems that kept them from competing on Saturday).
More Scheid power came in the form of the Sullivan brothers' (Seth and Micah), who showed onlookers what side-by-side Pro Street diesel racing is all about. Seth would come away with the win in the finals, running a 9.42 at 148 mph. Bruce Block would get in on the Pro Street action as well with his '04 Dodge.
Luckily, the event concluded just before a monsoon-like rainstorm swept through the area. With plans to host more diesel only events in the future, we look forward to visiting this top-notch facility again.
