Since we're doing it on a budget, we had to seek help from the diesel community for a helping hand, and Chris was kind enough to mail us the most important tool needed for the job. In the next week or two we'll be installing Comp Cams 910 valvesprings (thanks to our friends at Summit Racing, where they're for sale for $83.95), Comp Cams valvespring shims ($19.95) and heavy-duty chromoly pushrods from Hamilton Cams ($299). Although it's a tedious process, we'll show you how this task can be performed with the heads still bolted to the block. From there, you can decide for yourself if you'd be OK tackling it.
