First Snow Of The Year!

I never thought we would make it to January 12th without snow, but here it is, finally...

Too bad the windchill is zero. What's it like in your neck of the woods today? If you're in the Midwest or the Northeast you're probably experiencing the first winter storm of the season like I am. It looks like the upper Midwest, in places like northern Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan are getting the worst of it, but I'm no weather man.

Salt Warning:

*Unfortunately, these areas go through salt like crazy. When I see snow and ice, I also see salt. Salt being dumped by the ton all over the roads, and eating my truck alive. When you get a break in the weather, and if you see a slight warm up in temperature in your area (or better yet, a heated shop), take advantage of it and wash your underbody like no tomorrow. Then dry it out if you can.

1. Don't know where you are at in Mid West, but in SW Michigan it has snowed before, but with the Lake effect it all depends exactly where you are at. Here it didn't last or amount to much. But we have a Winter Storm Warning out for from 8" - 14" by Friday Night. The miserable part is the wind at 12 mph, now. Still in 20's.

2. In Las Vegas its low 60's in the day and a few degrees above freezing at night. In the sun its warm and in the shade its cool. They had snow on Mt. Charleston for a few months now.

Richfield, Utah was at 0 degrees in the morning and below freezing all day. There was about a foot of old crunchy snow and a few inches of fresh powder. That was about a month ago.

My grandpa said the last time there was a really warm winter in Minnesota was just before the dust bowl.

I heard southern Alaska was having huge snowfalls that collapsed roofs.

3. Last week was in the 80's. This week is in the 70's.
Can't even go outside when its this cold.

4. Last week was in the 60's, now we're experiencing lows in the teens and highs in the 40's. Dry as a bone here, got an inch and a half of rain about a week ago but that's it for the whole winter. This is in north central Oregon.
